Aimee is originally from Roatán, Honduras, and is joining the Madin lab from Texas. She received her bachelor’s in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University at Galveston in 2016. As an undergraduate, she participated in a National Science Foundation’s Research Experience for Undergraduates in Little Cayman where she studied predation on Acropora cervicornis corals at differing depths. Once she graduated, she spent two years working as a fisheries observer on the Bering Sea of Alaska where she lived and worked on commercial fishing vessels. Aimee also has several years of teaching and outreach experience working with local schools and organizations such as the Student Conservation Association in Houston. Aimee is currently interested in how human activities can alter the abundance of foundation species from the shoreline to the reef edge and the impact this plays on the conservation efforts of coastal habitats. We look forward to seeing how she applies her skill sets to research in our lab.
