Integrating Art And Science
Caitlyn Cassidy is an interning science illustrator joining us from from Washington state, where her love for nature was nurtured through family weekend trips to the ocean and backpacking trips along the Cascade mountain range. Always drawing from a young age, she achieved Bachelor of Fine Arts from Walla Walla University in 2019 before she began to pursue a career as a science illustrator. Caitlyn is completing an internship for CSU-Monterey Bay’s Science Illustration Program 2020-2021 with the research lab, creating artwork for the lab members. She set up meetings to work with six members of the lab to collaborate with and make artwork based on their focus of research. Going forward as a science illustrator, she hopes to use her illustrations to inspire a sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world and help others discover the fascinating and marvelous world we live in.
