Visit from our state legislature representatives

We were fortunate enough to have a visit in the lab from some of the House Finance Committee members recently, including Representative Lisa Marten and Representative Bert Kobayashi. It was great to get to show them the fieldwork we currently have underway, such as the mesocosms and fish houses that grad student Zack Rago and Annie Innes-Gold are working on in the newly-rehabilitated fish pens here on Moku o Lo’e. Grad student Devynn Wulstein and postdoc Mike McWilliam gave a great demonstration of the 3D laser scanner that the J. Madin lab is using to scan and then 3D print corals for various experiments (third photo). It was great to be able to share our science with some of our elected officials, who asked great questions along the way!
