Seaenna Correa-Garcia
2017-2021: B.S., Marine Science, California State University, Monterey Bay at Seaside, CA, USA
It all started when…
My passion for the ocean and the environment dates back to my childhood. I was born and raised on the island of Oʻahu, where I spent most of my weekends either up in the mountains or down at the sea. Growing up in a family of watermen, I grew great curiosity to learn more about the relationship of the ocean, environment, and my community. After graduating from Mililani High School I moved to California where I recently obtained my bachelor of science degree in Marine Science with a minor in Environmental Students and emphasis on education, from California State University, Monterey Bay.
My research...
Within the Madin Lab, I am currently focusing on scientific community communication through social media engagement. I am also working alongside Dr. Malia Rivera in the Science Inquiry Education Program (SIEP). The combination of these two opportunities gives me first-hand experience in my goal to diversify and empower our community to engage with science, specifically through means of education to promote conservation awareness and action to preserve our marine habitat.
