New Master's Student Alyssa Veneri Joins The Lab!

The Madin lab welcomes Alyssa Veneri! Alyssa was awarded the Hau‘oli Mau Loa Foundation Graduate Assistantship to attend the Marine Biology Graduate Program. She was born and raised on the island of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi and earned her bachelor's degree in Environmental and Ocean Sciences from the University of San Diego. In the past, she interned at a local non-profit marine conservation organization called Mālama Maunalua based in Maunalua Bay, Hawaii. She is interested in learning more about social-ecological systems and how humans can, directly and indirectly, affect our environment. Specifically, Alyssa will investigate the dynamic between coral and invasive algae species in response to human-induced runoff.
