PhD Student Annie Innes-Gold receives grants to support art and research efforts at HIMB

PhD Student Annie Innes-Gold and PI Elizabeth Madin worked with Managing Director of the Coral Resilience Lab Kira Hughes and HIMB Director Eleanor Sterling to procure funding from the Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation which will support a natural science-themed art project that will occur at Hawaiʻi Institute of Marine Biology (HIMB). The project will involve the collaboration between the previously mentioned team with a Windward Community College art student and a professional local artist to create a mural at HIMB inspired by ongoing natural science research and restoration projects. Planning is just beginning for exactly what and where the mural will be, but we are excited to continue to work on projects bridging art and science. Additionally, Annie was selected for the Colonel Willys E. Lord, DVM & Sandina L. Lord Scholarship which will continue to support her fisheries and ecosystem research efforts at HIMB. We are so grateful for the generosity of these donors!
