It all started when…
I'm from Makakilo, O'ahu so I've always had a fantastic view of the ocean which sparked a deep fascination in me from an early age. Initially, I pursued a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Wyoming in 2019-2020, but I made the decision to return home and go back to my roots in the sea. Through studying marine biology at UH Manoa, I've had the privilege of working at the KeaoaLoʻe REMS Lab since Fall of 2022 studying the use of sea urchins as a metric for local water quality and being an instructor for the Research Experiences in Marine Science (REMS) program. My ultimate goal in marine science is to live up to my namesake and be the best lover of the ocean I can be.
My research...
I am assisting in researching landscapes of fear on coral reefs and cleaner wrasse cognition within mesocosms to better understand fish behavior and development.
