It all started when…

I grew up in the small town of Northampton, MA, and became interested in marine science on an elementary school trip to the aquarium. I studied Biology and Anthropology at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, participating in ecology research at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute and Bigelow Lab for Ocean Sciences. After college, I worked in science outreach with the Pioneer Valley Coral and Natural Science Institute and Reef Environmental Education Foundation. I then completed my MS at the University of Rhode Island, where I created a social-ecological model of the Narragansett Bay food web and fisheries.

My research...

I’m interested in coral reef ecology and ecosystem-based fisheries management, and hope to use my background in interdisciplinary research to explore questions relating to environmental and fisheries sustainability. Currently, I’m using ecosystem modeling to study the interactive effects of management strategy and climate change on fish populations and fisheries harvest.
