I’m thrilled to have accepted a faculty position at the Hawai’i Institute of Marine Biology at the University of Hawai’i! I’ll be starting there in May 2018 when I complete my current Australian Research Council DECRA postdoc fellowship. I’ve been extremely fortunate to have been so well supported by the Australian Research Council and the Dept. of Biological Sciences at Macquarie University these past nearly six years, and I’m now excited for the next chapter of life and career in Hawai’i. There are lots of reasons why I’m looking forward to being at HIMB – for example, being right there on the reef every day. HIMB is located on Moku o Loʻe (Coconut Island) in Kāneʻohe Bay on the windward side of Oʻahu, and is surrounded by the reefs within the bay and beyond. After years of having to travel thousands of miles to get to my field sites, I’m finding it hard to get my head around the idea of being able to do fieldwork on a normal work day…! Can’t wait. Let the adventure begin.
